Julie Erikssen is a musical enchantress—a multi-instrumentalist, producer, and exceptional songwriter. She embodies the kind of artist whose grace and elegance captivate audiences.
Her musical world is an open gateway to distant, fairy-tale realms, inviting listeners to lose themselves in luminous clearings and deep forests with majestic trees. The impressionistic melodies of Maurice Ravel ignited her love for music at a very young age. This budding passion led her to begin piano lessons at the Conservatory at the age of five, eventually signing her first artist contract with Sony Music at just 19 years old. On stage, under the guidance of mentors, she immersed herself in the fascinating world of jazz. With a captivating voice, an impressive natural swing, and impeccable technique, Julie has been invited to collaborate on numerous projects with iconic figures such as Manu Katché, Ali Jackson, Hadrien Féraud, and Médéric Collignon. They have all been charmed by her authenticity, artistic rigor, and soulful presence. Notably, she made history as the first woman to host the legendary jazz club "Duc des Lombards"'s jam sessions. While she often accompanies herself on piano and guitar, she is always surrounded by top-tier musicians. |
Despite receiving numerous prestigious collaboration offers, notably from Éric Legnini and Jacky Terrasson, Julie took full creative control of her debut album, Out of Chaos, released in 2018. Not only did she write the lyrics and music, but she also handled the arrangements and artistic direction. The album was brilliantly recorded live, featuring a carefully selected ensemble of remarkable musicians: Tony Paeleman, Pierre Perchaud, Viktor Nyberg, and Donald Kontomanou . "Out of Chaos" , a touching homage to Charlie Chaplin, bridges several musical worlds: jazz virtuoso improvisation, folk songs meant to be sung around a fire, and the thrilling intensity of rock, all with a touch of spirituality woven throughout. Her next opus, which promises to be particularly wonderful, is eagerly awaited in 2024. |
